![]() ![]() WHY a slave.? Well I am using a 95 floppy boot disk with the utilities Zap and Wipeout on it.and I get a more definitive note on startup after zaping with a slave drive on the cable. as master (a Seagate Model ST320014A U Series X 20 IDE ATA) and slave (a Maxtor). the operating System I am trying to install is Windows XP.When I first tryed to install XP I had a Winbond Video card installed which I checked first by installing it in my own PC.Then I was able to obtain a Albatron G Force FX5200LP Video card to try.Because when I sought advice from the local tech Shop the advice was "its definately the video Card as when it reboots into the GUI it cannot handle the graphics?" Henry. On advice I removed anything not required so as to narrow probable cause of the problem. So its an MS 6309 MB with Pentium 3 CPU.I have one single stick of memory in it and I am using my own Asus DVD drive instead of the ones in the system. Īny comment would be gratefully received. Is what I have described known to anybody as the result of a motherboard problem. Its a MS 6309 MB and all cards etc have been removed except for the video card. Theres only two parts that I have not tried with alternatives.THE PSU and the Motherboard. tried two different hard drives and got the same result on both. everything went great til the files were copied and it went into the 15 second reboot prior to the GUI.but it rebooted to a blank screen ?.A local tech man told me its the video card ? So I took the PC apart cleaning everything ,reassembled with a new Video card. ![]() I zapped and wipedout the hard drive absolutely clean and using my own spare video card I started a install of XP. weeks later the PC was returned to him minus its video card.and I was asked to have another look at it. the advice I got was that there was something on the hard drive but I had wiped clean the drive.Anyway my neighbour decided to hand it over to another person presumably wiser than me. and I thought it would be a breeze to do the same again. I had previously done a re- install of XP on it. ![]() Then some time back he asked me if I would do a re install for him. Hi.I have a PC I have spent months on and I am ready to throw it to the rubbish bin.Its my neighbours and it has gone faithfully for him for at least 10 years. ![]()
